I was honoured when Delaina from My Creative Scrapbook contacted me to be a Guest DT member for August. They have wonderful kits and the DT girls have some mad talent.  I couldn't refuse!

I got to work with the Main Kit for August - filled with Simple Stories Summer Fresh collection and Prima flowers!  Perfect! Here it is:

Just For Me...

I was reminded again lately about why I scrapbook...  about what my motives should be (for me).  I scrap because it relieves stress.  I scrap because it brings me joy.  I scrap to preserve our family's everyday moments.  And perhaps most importantly, I scrap so that my children will have a very detaled record of their childhoods.

I'm not on 20 different design teams...  I don't have to create with specific products or by a deadline....  I already have a job that requires me to follow rules and meet deadlines.  Scrapping is supposed to be fun.

"Shine"....

The countdown is on!  Seven more working days and then I'm on VACATION!  To say I can't wait is an understatement.... Looking forward to some downtime and some quality time with my kiddos.

I wanted to share a layout that I created with My Mind's Eye "Be Happy" collection.  It's one of my favourite collections right now.  I even added a little of the "Be Amazing" chipboard here too:

It is supposed to be as high as 46 (not a typo!) with a humidex tomorrow.  Stay cool!  And think of me (or I guess it's really Brendan who will be doing all the work) tomorrow evening while we're at Brendan's soccer game!

Happy Father's Day & Crate Paper Love!

Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there! Whether you're a father by blood, marriage or love.....you are important to your families, especially your children.  I hope you get spoiled today! :)

My kids are blessed to have a father who is 110% involved in their lives.  He never hesitates to put them first... He looks out for them, takes care of them, gets up for 7:00 a.m. hockey practices, volunteers at their school, does the French verbs, answers Brendan's 100000 questions about history and/or geography, helps with math so my head doesn't explode.... drives them to soccer, amuses Olivia and tries her dance moves (he's got 2 left feet so I guess we can also add comedian to the list, as I crack up laughing whenever I see him trying to do the dance moves!) and just plain helps out where he can. Most importantly, he loves them unconditionally.  Unconditional love .....all a child really needs to grow up, don't you think?

I also wanted to share a layout I created with Crate Paper's Pretty Party line.  I've got mad love for Crate Paper products.  I just love to work with them! What I also like is that with each new release, we're seeing more great product and it doesn't look like their last five releases.  Some companies tend to keep things the same (and wear them out) and release similar product at each show but with a different name, colour scheme and a new embellishment or two. Crate Paper always surprises me - looking forward to what they have up their sleeve for CHA-S. :)

Here's my beautiful girl.  I tried to channel my inner "Melanie Blackburn"! LOL.  She's a dear friend of mine and I admire her work. There is a ton of inspiration on her blog so go say hello, if you don't read her blog already.

This layout also features an Elle's Studio tag  from the "One and Only" line.  I was lucky enough to win a crop challenge over at The Paper Passion and Elle & Laci (TPP Owner) sent a very generous gift pack of the latest and greatest from Elle's Studio.  I was so excited and couldn't wait to create with them.  Thanks again Elle & Laci! :)

Can't believe the weekend is already over and Monday is upon us.  I think I'm okay with it though....  it means I'm one day closer to summer vacation.  I can't wait to have some down time and just enjoy my family.

So glad it's the weekend!  It's shaping up to be a beautifu one too - lots of heat and sunshine, which is just the way I like it!

Stopping in today to share a layout of my goreous girl.  I can't get enough of My Mind's Eye lately and Elle's Studio lately.  Seriously awesome products that are so easy to design with!

I know I am biased because she's my baby girl but I'll say it anyway...  This girl is AMAZING... smart, kind, funny, creative, beautiful on the inside and out.... She's just perfect. :)

I See The Light!.... & Be Amazing

I can finally see the light!  I realized about an hour ago that I'll be on vacation in 15 days....FIFTEEN!  I just can't wait and I so need it.  We've just gone through a super busy period at work with major obstacles.  And this super busy period has been preceeded by about a year of always being busy and adjusting to a load of changes.  I.AM.READY.FOR.VACAY.

Wanted to share this layout today that I made with My Mind's Eye "Be Amazing" line.  I just can't get enough of MME lately.  They really are hitting it out of the park with every new release!

Brand New

Just wanted to share a layout I created using one of the monthly Studio Calico kit.  I love getting these kits every month.  There's always the latest and greatest and a great mixture of manufacturers. Perhaps what I love most is that the kit comes from Kentucky in about 5 business days.  Pretty awesome. :)

This layout is all about my girl and her new bike. Hard to believe that this time last year, she wanted nothing at all to do with biking.  I'm glad she's liking it again.

 

Crate Paper Love!

Crate Paper is definitely at the top of my list when it comes to scrapbook paper....and brads....and stickers..and well, most scrapbook related stuff! :)  Just when I think I cannot be any more impressed by one of their releases, they top that and amaze me with something else!  The Paper Heart collection is one of my faves - I love the mix of teal, pink and yellow.  I used it to create this layout about my love for my iPhone!  How did I ever live without it? :)

Pretty much everything on here is Crate Paper, except for the EK doily punch, the Prima ink and some white Mister Huey(another product I can't live without).

The Blackburn Hamlet Fun Fair

I always joke with people and say that I live in God's country. The truth is - I love our little community. I can't imagine raising our family anywhere else. We have the benefits of being in a big city but with the surroundings being more like a small town. Our children go to school here and play sports here. We have a library, grocery store, arena, community pool and the best little Chinese restaurant.....all within walking distance. We have the most beautiful church and some of the best parks. We know many people as we walk through the neighbourhood or pop into the corner store for milk. It's perfect.

Another benefit of this community is the Fun Fair that is held the first weekend in June every year. Even better - it's across the street from where we live! It's perfect. This year, I finally got my act in gear and went to take some pictures of this fun little weekend. Here are some of my fave shots of the rides, etc:

Back with a couple of new layouts.  

In the 30's.....

Yes, that's where my age falls....but more importantly, it's also the number of layouts that I discovered in my heaping pile that I've never taken photos of and/or posted!  Craziness.  I've got them all photographed now and a few edited so I'll start sharing.  Here's some of my most recent:

I've used some "oldies but goodies" supplies (I can never get enoough of Crate Paper's Farmhouse and Random collections - two of my favourite ever).  Also a big fan of Amy Tangerine and most things Studio Calico!

As I look at these layouts, I realize just how quickly Brendan and Olivia are growing and how quickly time is fleeting.  I am so, so happy that I discovered scrapbooking for that reason only.  I hope they'll look back on their layouts fondly when they've grown and enjoy looking back at their childhoods.  Just the thought of this makes me so pleased....... :)

(Also, when I look at this blog I'm reminded of just how drab and old my header is!!  I've got a few ideas...I'm just missing the time to get there.)
